How and when did Ridin' Alberta get started?

In 2020, during the height of COVID, I (Craig Oldfield) had a conversation with a friend that sparked an idea: take a motorcycle ride across Alberta to showcase the incredible places we have to ride and support local small businesses along the way.

I asked fellow riders to recommend truly special local businesses, then mapped out a route covering approximately 4,000 km across the province. The original tour took 12 days to complete and became known as “Ridin’ Alberta.” When I returned, I thought that would be the end of it — but I was wrong.

The response from the riding community was overwhelming. Riders wanted a place to share routes, recommendations, and rider-friendly businesses. From that demand, Ridin’ Alberta was born.

Today, through our website and social media channels, Ridin’ Alberta has grown into a trusted hub for motorcyclists and a driving force within Alberta’s motorcycle community.

The Riders with Benefits program is a community-driven program that connects riders with local small businesses through exclusive discounts, perks, events, and experiences. Our goal is to strengthen the local motorcycle community while helping riders save money and support businesses that support riders and are the heart of their communities.

This community was built for all riders — All motorcycle types, riding styles and experience levels are welcome. The community is built around riders, not brands or bike categories.  If you ride motorcycles, like exploring Alberta, enjoy supporting local businesses, and want to be part of a positive riding community, Ridin' Alberta is for you.

Membership pricing is simple and affordable, at just $12.50 it is designed to pay for itself quickly through rider discounts alone.

How long does Riders with Benefits membership last?

Each membership is valid for one full calendar year, from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.

Is the membership worth it if I don’t ride all the time?

Yes. Many members recover the cost of their membership with just one or two visits to partner businesses. Even if you ride occasionally, the savings, community access, and local impact make it worthwhile.

Are new partner businesses added throughout the year?

Yes. We actively add new local business partners throughout the riding season, increasing the value of your membership over time.

Can I suggest a local business to be added?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Member suggestions are encouraged. If you know a rider-friendly local business that you have been impressed with, you can submit a recommendation and we’ll reach out to them.
